In each month, over the next 12 months, I’ll highlight a specific life category - this month it's Physical Health.
The ultimate goal, is to help you (and your clients - for those of you in the biz of helping others) raise life fulfillment in each of these critical life categories, by taking one category at a time.
In each post, you will find:
If you read this and apply it, you will raise your life fulfillment.
We’re kicking off January with the fulfillment focus of physical health.
Please enjoy and get the most value by having a pen and paper near by.
Taking into account your age, stage of life, and any medical constraints, how would you describe your ideal physical health?
How far is the gap between where you are today and where you’d ideally like to be?
Let's explore the fundamental roles that beliefs, vision, capability, commitment, and environment play in closing the gap between your current state and your ideal vision of physical health......
"Whether you believe you can or believe you can’t, you’re right."
Most failed attempts to improve physical health stem from a core issue in your self-talk—which is fed by your core beliefs. Without core beliefs that support you, no strategy, machine, diet, or program will sustain long-term success. So, the question is: Are your beliefs creating internal self-talk that supports you?
Are these beliefs empowering or limiting? When you can fully adopt the beliefs that support your success and find a way to remove the ones that don't, you are poised to finally create the lifestyle and habits that support your success.
Pro Tip: If you are wondering if your current self-talk is healthy or not, when you listen to it, notice your tone? Is that tone loving and supporting you?
"If you don’t know what you want, any path will take you there."
Do you have a vivid and inspiring vision of your ideal physical health? Without it, it’s easy to drift without direction, abandon without cause, and get off course without concern.
Reflection: Clarity in your vision allows for decisive action and adjustments when needed. When you have clarity, you can align your actions and set your commitments with more ease and focus. So, what is it that YOU really want?
Vision without belief often leads to starts and stops, short bursts of motivation, and eventual frustration. When belief aligns with vision, you are now positioned for accelerated success. Notice how #1 – Belief and #2 – Vision depend on one another.
The amazing thing about capability is that you can always grow it.
If you already have the skills or knowledge, start now—and share what you’ve learned with others.
If you don’t have the capability yet, surround yourself with people, resources, and training that will elevate you to the level your vision requires.
Start Now: Identify one skill or resource you could develop this month to move closer to your ideal physical health. Pick the one that will have the greatest impact on your vision, and schedule time to focus on it.
Commitment is under siege in today’s world of endless distractions designed to pull us away from meaningful action.
Even if you know what you want, believe you can achieve it, and have the capability… execution is the key to making it happen.
Question: What specific, consistent actions can you commit to this month to move the needle on your physical health?
KEEP IT SIMPLE: You don’t need a 64-point plan. All you need is to focus on the very next step—that’s it. Let go of having all the answers (YOU DON’T AND NEVER WILL); and celebrate each step you take.
"You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with."
Your environment—the people, systems, and physical surroundings—plays a crucial role in success.
Look around. Does your environment support or hinder your health goals?
Remember: You become the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Who are they? Do they uplift you? Are they congruent with your ideal vision?
Have you ever found yourself in this all-too-common situation?
"You know what to do, you know what you want, you have everything you need to start, and nothing in your environment is stopping you—but you just can't find the motivation to act."
Here’s the truth: The reason you can’t find the motivation is that your internal operating system thinks it’s keeping you safe by maintaining the status quo. The kicker? The world you’ve created—especially those subscription providers you’re paying every month—is counting on you to stay exactly as you are. Their livelihood depends on it.
But you’re not living for them, are you?
To break the pattern, you’ve got to dig deep, crack into your core beliefs, and change them. It’s simple, but not always easy. The good news? You can do it—and you don’t have to do it alone.
The Life Inventory Assessment: In the Life Inventory Assessment (the central reflection tool I use in my life and with my clients), we ask these five questions to measure and gain insight on how to increase fulfillment in any one area. These questions measure your Happiness, Time Alignment, Engagement, Capabilities, and Emotional Activation:
This lightweight, easy-to-wear device is designed to track your biometrics and provide real-time feedback on your most important health metrics. I’ve been using the WHOOP for about four months now, and it’s transformed how I approach sleep, recovery, and performance. It’s helped me safely push my body to optimal strain levels while ensuring consistent growth.
One of my favorite features? Its minimalist design—perfect for someone like me who dislikes bulky wristwear. Plus, the long battery life, simple charging, and user-friendly app made it a yes for me.
You can use my link to get a WHOOP 4.0 and one month free: https://join.whoop.com/99F8C3C2.
$$ Cost is a monthly subscription ranging from $27-40/month.
I highly recommend this scan to increase your awareness, catch any under-the-surface issues, and establish a baseline measurement to monitor your progress over time. $$ Costs vary by service provider from $169-$499 depending on the package you choose.
This year, my health focus is on nutrition and consistent sleep. I also have a vanity goal: visible abs.
For Tracy, wow, she has to be one of the most disciplined people I know, and her approach to health inspires me to push through challenges and set higher standards for myself. I’m grateful to have her leading the way with such unwavering dedication. (and wholly crap, her abs are growing abs)!
